Radici nichilistiche della modernità: distruzione del mediatore e proliferazione del desiderio

The paper, describing the soul and spirit of Europe, underlines that Europe is not comprehensible without philosophy and its continuous stimulus. One of its former sages, Heraclitus, throws the first flashes of light on the cultural and ideal spaces in which Europe will take body and soul: ‘I tried to decipher myself’ and ‘it will be impossible for you to discover, in your life, the soul’s borders, not even if you will walk all the roads’. Relationship and mediation, in the horizon of pre-modern philosophy, were the essential pillars of metaphysical thought, in order to avoid the fragmentation of contingency. The paper describes Luther’s revolution on the topic of mediation and the radical consequences on anthropology which conducts to the explosion of individualistic desire
