A guide to trace and know the individual works and, also, a history of the overall development of the city. The book is a journey through contemporary architecture of Rome organized according to a repertoire in which there are 273 illustration and information sheets, in chronological order, to interpret the complexity and heterogeneity of urban phenomena. In this fourth edition the information and illustration sheets are revised and updated (the three previous editions were published in 1984, 1991 and 2000), they illustrate concretely what was built or transformed in Rome since the early twentieth century to the present. It is a narrative structure that succeeds in placing the individual buildings in the complex and tormented development of the city. The book is enriched by more than 50 new cards that affect buildings constructed over the years between 2000 and 2011. Among them, the Auditorium “Parco della Musica”, the MAXXI (the National Museum of XXI Century Arts), the Church of God the Merciful Father, the Ara Pacis Museum, the Exhibition hall in the Roman Garden of the Capitoline Museums, the new Tiburtina Station, the new Library of the Lateran University, the expansion of the MACRO Museum and the new Bibliotheca Hertziana. These projects are often signed by foreign internationally renowned architects that from some years are involved in the implementation of public works of great importance for the city. Among the illustration and information sheets stands out one dedicated to the new Master Plan of Rome approved in 2008.

Tra le schede spicca quella dedicata al nuovo Piano Regolatore di Roma approvato nel 2008.
