The research project aimed to investigate various form of urban adaptation in cities when crime and violence are routine, Organized Crime (OC) is influential, corruption is endemic. In particular, the research aimed to integrate previous research work into ‘urban disorder’ in a number of Italian cities into a wider project of comparative research into how urban policies could contribute to deal with chronic violence and disorder. The research produced comparisons and new US case-studies on the social and spatial effects of disorder according to the researches and cases of urban adaptations carried out by URCV (Urban Resilience in Situations of Chronic Violence), an international research group within the DUSP-Dept. of Urban Studies and Planning at MIT.
