The book "Straniere in Sardegna" records the results of some researches on the experiences and representations of migrant women residing on the island. In particular, the present article is dedicated to their representation in local mass media channels. What is the role of local daily newspapers in the interaction between natives and new residents inside a territory? What kind of images do they spread about the female migrant population to the Sardinians readers, and more generally out in the territory? The answers are based on results of a research conducted in 2006, when all the articles on male and female migrants issued by the two major local newspapers during the previous years had been gathered, classified and analysed. After reconstructing the general picture on foreigners presence on the territory as suggested by the newspapers, the author lingers on creating more detailed female profiles.
