In addition to Roman bonds at 5 per cent, public debt stock included the quotation of bonds of Milan's Monte and non nterest-bearing certificates (redeemable in cash or against the purchase of public property). bonds displayed a high degree of volatility. In the paper there were unpublished bond's market prices from 1822 to 1848. The trend of the Roman stock exchange was a faithful mirror of the feeble economic system, and at the beginning of italian unity public debt still played the leading role on the scenery of the Roman financial market.
