The results of an investigation aimed at making a comparison between the forecast of a numerical model and the results of physical model in roman tuff brick walls and various types of mortars are presented. The tuffs taken into account for this study come from two of the largest pyroclastic formations outcropping in the volcanic areas lying to the north of Rome. The forecast of numerical method was obtained by a F.E.M. structural analysis program. A comparison between these results and those obtained by using the traditional physical model1ing methods provide useful indications to choose the mathematical simulation parameters that allow the best representation of the behaviour of these structures.

Abstract
The results of an investigation aimed at making a comparison between the forecast of a numerical model and the results of physical model in roman tuff brick walls and various types of mortars are presented. The tuffs taken into account for this study come from two of the largest pyroclastic formations outcropping in the volcanic areas lying to the north of Rome. The forecast of numerical method was obtained by a F.E.M. structural analysis program. A comparison between these results and those obtained by using the traditional physical model1ing methods provide useful indications to choose the mathematical simulation parameters that allow the best representation of the behaviour of these structures.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
