The Empty Chair Crises of 1965 was originated by the proposal of the president of the EEC Commission Walter Hallstein to give significant budget prerogatives to the European Parliament in the context of the passage to the system of the Community's "own resources". The article analyses the debate that developed inside the European Parliament and in particular the confrontation between the gaullist members and the other representatives.
La crisi della sedia vuota del 1965 ebbe origine dalla proposta del presidente della Commissione Cee Walter Hallstein di conferire significative prerogative di bilancio al Parlamento europeo nel contesto del passaggio al sistema comunitario delle "risorse proprie".
