This article confronts a lot of relevant subjects. The birth of Italian Republic in 1946 and the Constitution of 1948 marked the reinstatement of the Jews as Italian citizens. They took part again in the political, cultural, economic and social life of their country. In the same time, Jewish Communities were rebuilt. They were upset after racial laws and deportations. Italian Jews reflected on their identity, contributed to the general debate on fascism and racism, participated in the discussion on the relationship between traditional Jewish identity and the new political and cultural situation created by the Israel State birth and development, too.
