Abstract
In a country with such strong urban growth as China, and with such a rich and millenary history and culture, Steven Holl, together with his partner Li Hu, has designed a series of relevant architectural complexes characterized by experimentation with new architectural typologies and new methods of urban development. With the Linked Hybrid in Beijing (2003-09), the Sliced Porosity Block in Chengdu (2007-12), the Vankee Centre in Shenzhen (2006-09) and the Nanjing Museum of Art and Architecture in Nanjing (2003-10), Holl has confronted a collection of projects that, in terms of form, size and content aim at creating new, large-scale urban visions. His is an architecture with vaster connotations of meaning, in which the physical intervention is viewed as both an architectural sign and an urban landmark.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
