The main objective of this paper is the quantitative analysis of the transit time through the railway freight terminals. It represents one of the most relevant terminal performances and at the same time a key component of the freight transport generalised cost, composed by a deterministic component and a stochastic one. A specific model for its evaluation has been developed. The considered freight terminals are: a) land freight interchanges; b) marshalling yards; c) railway maritime terminals. The model has been applied to same typical case studies and a detailed sensitivity analysis for each terminal typology has been performed.

Abstract
The main objective of this paper is the quantitative analysis of the transit time through the railway freight terminals. It represents one of the most relevant terminal performances and at the same time a key component of the freight transport generalised cost, composed by a deterministic component and a stochastic one. A specific model for its evaluation has been developed. The considered freight terminals are: a) land freight interchanges; b) marshalling yards; c) railway maritime terminals. The model has been applied to same typical case studies and a detailed sensitivity analysis for each terminal typology has been performed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
