This work deals with the royal Sasanian correspondence handed down by a byzantine historian, Theophylact Simocatta, in particular with six epistles, the authenticity of which is usually taken for granted, but in my opinion shows still many open questions. This topic is discussed on the basis of the linguistic data (epytheta, formulae, loanwords, among which there is an interesting hapax legomenon).

Abstract
This work deals with the royal Sasanian correspondence handed down by a byzantine historian, Theophylact Simocatta, in particular with six epistles, the authenticity of which is usually taken for granted, but in my opinion shows still many open questions. This topic is discussed on the basis of the linguistic data (epytheta, formulae, loanwords, among which there is an interesting hapax legomenon).File allegati a questo prodotto
