This work intents to collect a photographic index of inscribed objects (with translation and a brief comment), belonged to ancient Greek and Roman magic. The survey distinguishes “simple supports”, that is usually employed to the writing and realized with different materials ( gold/silver/lead tablets, papyri and parchment’s leaves, etc.) and “autonomous objects”, that are connected to practical and ritual purposes. In the second part of the book you examine the relation between the writing and the objects used as a support. You observe the peculiarity of that kind of writing conceived like a visual message - even if secretly and private or even not allowed- the drafting of the text, the use of distinctive magical and cryptic signs, symbols and drawings..
