Formation processes of the first developed Neolithic societies in the Zagros and the Northern Mesopotamian plain

The volume traces the development of the first lines of agricultural and pastoral society of the eighth and seventh millennium BC, in the current regions of Northern Iraq and northwestern Iran. Are analyzed, together with the economic organization of these communities, changes in settlement and social transformations that these entail. The data used in this analysis cover both a territorial and environmental, that the material culture of the groups in question. The results of this work are then used for a critical re-evaluation of the major theories about the origin of domestication.

Il volume traccia le linee di sviluppo delle prime società agricole e pastorali del VIII e VII millennio a.C., nelle attuali regioni dell'Iraq del Nord e dell'Iran nord-occidentale. Vengono analizzati, assieme alla organizzazione economica di tali comunità, i cambiamenti insediativi e le trasformazioni sociali che questi comportano. I dati utilizzati in tale analisi riguardano sia aspetti territoriali ed ambientali, che la cultura materiale dei gruppi in questione. I risultati del lavoro vengono poi utilizzati per una rivalutazione critica delle maggiori teorie sull'origine della domesticazione.
