The book analyzes the architectural aspects, typological, constructive and 'materials' of the houses of the Roman countryside between the twelfth and fourteenth centuries, investigated in relation to the urban culture and rural territory around the city of Rome, the Aurelian walls until the early castrates foundation baronial or not. The presence and the size of the houses has been designed with comparisons between the news and documentary sources derived from data taken directly from the analysis of building elements and spatial planning, through investigation of structural and decorative aspects of the factories, the expressive components of language architectural assessment of the quality and functions of the interior spaces to the rural settlements and their development over time. In this perspective, it looks for the origin of the peculiar relationship between the built and the territory of the Roman Campagna, also in view of their conservation and restoration.
Il volume analizza gli aspetti architettonici, tipologici, costruttivi e 'materiali' dei casali della Campagna romana fra XII e XIV secolo, indagati in relazione alla cultura urbana e al territorio rurale intorno alla città di Roma, dalle mura aureliane fino ai primi castra di fondazione baronale e non. La presenza e la consistenza dei casali è studiata con raffronti tra le notizie ricavate dalle fonti documentarie e i dati desumibili dall'analisi diretta dei manufatti edilizi e dell'assetto del territorio, mediante indagini sugli aspetti costruttivi e decorativi delle fabbriche, sulle componenti espressive del linguaggio architettonico, sulla valutazione della qualità e delle funzioni degli spazi interni agli insediamenti rurali e al loro sviluppo nel tempo. In tale ottica viene cercata l'origine del peculiare rapporto fra costruito e territorio della Campagna romana, anche in vista della loro conservazione e restauro.
