Transvenous ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF) is currently performed either by mul- tiple sequential radiofrequency applications aiming at electrical disconnection of the pulmonary veins (PVs) from the left atrium (LA) or by PV linear encircling. Both these techniques have been reported to carry the risk for a newly described compli- cation, atrial tachycardia (AT). The present chapter reviews the incidence, mecha- nisms, and treatment of ATs of new onset presenting with LA radiofrequency ablation for AF.

Abstract
Transvenous ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF) is currently performed either by mul- tiple sequential radiofrequency applications aiming at electrical disconnection of the pulmonary veins (PVs) from the left atrium (LA) or by PV linear encircling. Both these techniques have been reported to carry the risk for a newly described compli- cation, atrial tachycardia (AT). The present chapter reviews the incidence, mecha- nisms, and treatment of ATs of new onset presenting with LA radiofrequency ablation for AF.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
