Adolescent Symptom Patterns: The Subjective Experience

The SA Axis (Tanzilli, Speranza, 2025) provides more detailed descriptions of the main psychopathological patterns that typically manifest in adolescence. In general, the subjective experience of symptoms and clinical syndromes as reported by young patients is made even more explicit – with particular attention to their affective states, cognitive patterns, somatic states, and relational patterns – and the value of clinicians’ emotional responses in informing the diagnostic and therapeutic process is given greater emphasis (Brøsholen et al., 2022; Satir et al., 2009).
