Salvatore M.Puglisi pointed out the importance of the Saharan cultures for the study of nomads/settlers interrelations in the framework of the Neolithic Nile Valley. The following research in the Egyptian Western Desert, carried out by international multidisciplinary teams, have adequately highlighted these dynamics. The present article makes reference to the most recent results of such research and, more in particular, to those brought to light by the University “La Sapienza” Archaeological Mission in the Farafra Oasis. The recognition of the mid-late Holocene sequence at Farafra, Hidden Valley locality, has allowed for illustrating the rise of a fully shepherd organization starting from a broad spectrum economy (with hunting, protocultivation and herding) and, thereafter, for studying the consequent interrelations with the agricultural societies of the Nile Valley
