Between the end of 2022 and the first half of the following year, four Italian films were released in theaters. Though markedly different in terms of genre, narrative style, setting, and critical and commercial reception, they shared a significant common feature: all four told stories of confinement and seclusion, and in all four the protagonists were young women. Whether consciously or unconsciously, directly or indirectly, the connection to the collective experience of lockdown was immediately evident. The four films in question are Vetro by Domenico Croce, Amanda by Carolina Cavalli, Primadonna by Marta Savina, and Chiara by Susanna Nicchiarelli. In the present contribution, the authors – taking cinema as a privileged space for investigating the elaboration of deep social dynamics – analyze representations of female subjectivities marked by different forms of vulnerability, as they attempt to resist, react, and transform.

Abstract
In the present contribution, the authors – taking cinema as a privileged space for investigating the elaboration of deep social dynamics – analyze representations of female subjectivities marked by different forms of vulnerability, as they attempt to resist, react, and transform.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
