This work offers a general overview of Syriac and Middle Persian bilingualism. Through the analysis of literary loanwords in the two languages, it highlights the sociolinguistic aspects of this contact, which primarily involved Syriac-speaking Eastern Christians, without neglecting the presence of a small group of Syriac terms that entered the Middle Persian lexicon.
