The growing climate emergency and the need for an ecological and digi tal transition call for new adaptive urban planning strategies capable of meeting the challenges of the contemporary city. This article analyses the state of the art and proven urban planning approaches to address these challenges, with a focus on models that promote resilience and sustainability. Using an inductive approach in three phases, the study reflects and research perspectives towards the definition of new theoretical-methodological and operational references able to enable the Local Urban Plan to face the challenges of the contemporary City.
