The search for a peace that seems not to be truly achievable and lasting is a thread that runs through the entire history of ancient Rome, but not only. However, the need for peace continuously emerges, between supplication and hope. This essay would like to reflect on the possible meanings of Pax in Republican and Imperial Rome, focusing on the sense of a constant, and necessary, search for balance.
