Through this essay, the intention is to probe the theme of the linguistic—and, at the same time cultural—revolution enacted by women artists and filmmakers working in Italy in the 1960s and ’70s, concentrating on the relationship between their cinema and the historical and cultural context in which this revolution would take place. Women artists and filmmakers with the film camera in hand thus problematized cinema’s ways of seeing and lin- guistic system, multiplying their possibilities.
