Семантическое поле молчания в устойчивых сравнениях русского языка: к динамике узуса (Campo semantico del silenzio nei paragoni fissi della lingua russa: dinamiche dell'uso linguistico)

This article examines the dynamic processes affecting Russian fixed comparisons ranging from the 19th to the 21st century. In particular, the semantic field of silence is described using phraseological dictionaries and data from the Russian National Corpus. The aim is to trace specific patterns of nom‑inalization and identify linguistic units that have either fallen into disuse or en‑tered active usage during this period. Specific attention is given to neologisms that emerged in the 20th century. The study traces the chronological emergence of these innovations in speech and analyses how they became embedded in the Russian linguistic system. A historical overview of those comparisons that are object of research reveals how implicit cultural connotations are formed within phraseology. Moreover, this paper sheds some light on certain controversial on‑tological issues in the study of neology.
