La forma del territorio

The project begins with an orographic and morphological reading of the Neapolitan territory, extending beyond the boundaries of the Mostra d'Oltremare along the axis of Via Terracina, reconstructed through the historical maps of Rizzi Zannoni. The analysis of slopes, rocky outcrops, and the ancient Roman roads per cryptam and per colles reveals the foundational structure of the place as a porous system of layered natural and anthropic elements. The project proposes a non-assertive intervention: a fragmented wall running along Via Terracina, small watchtowers placed on the higher elevations, and discrete marks within the woodland that bring invisible archaeological traces back to light. The threshold between the city and the Mostra is conceived as a dilated and permeable space, maintaining physical and visual continuity between its parts, refusing the logic of the barrier in favour of the filter.

Il progetto parte da una lettura orografica e morfologica del territorio napoletano, estesa oltre i confini della Mostra d'Oltremare lungo l'asse di via Terracina, ricostruita attraverso le carte storiche di Rizzi Zannoni. L'analisi dei pendii, dei costoni, delle antiche vie romane per cryptam e per colles restituisce la struttura fondativa del luogo come sistema poroso di elementi naturali e antropici stratificati. Il progetto propone un intervento non assertivo: un muro frammentato lungo via Terracina, piccole torri di avvistamento sulle quote alte, segni discreti nel bosco che riportano alla luce l'archeologia invisibile. La soglia tra città e Mostra è trattata come spazio dilatato e permeabile, in continuità fisica e visuale tra le parti, rifiutando la barriera in favore del filtro.
