The results of the Institutions’ Index

In this chapter, the authors present the strategy and the procedure employed to create the Institutions’ World Love Index (WLI), focusing on the two phases. The first part shows the factor analysis-based procedure of constructing the four mono-dimensional indices, operationalising each of the four dimensions of the institution’s social love concept. In the second part, following Lazarsfeld’s paradigm, which highlights the methodological relevance of the index for recomposing the general concept’s semantic unity subdivided into a plurality of indicators, the process of aggregating the four mono-dimensional indices into the final synthetic index is presented. Finally, the chapter illustrates a theoretical and conceptual reflection on the possibility of challenging the dualism between individual social love and institutional justice, promoting the possibility of studying social love from a macro and institutional perspective.
