Binario 8. La Scuola di Architettura in forma di città. Binario 8 The School of Architecture in form of a city

The text introduces the topics of the project developed in the workshop “Binario8. A New Home for the School of Architecture in Parma,” which fits into the landscape of the former factories of San Leonardo, between the station and Pasubio, taking the form of “architecture in the shape of a city.” Through the adaptive reuse of existing buildings and the addition of a new building, the project preserves the morphological imprint of the site and activates a renewed urban metabolism. The project configures the new School of Architecture as an urban device based on flexibility, interaction, and sharing: the intervention, divided into two quadrants separated by a residential block, integrates the conversion of the existing building and the new construction according to a unified compositional principle based on primary elements that organize the spatial sequences. The railway, a liminal and identifying element, structures the distribution system as a connecting backbone, articulated by a ramp and three landmarks that connect the station to the city.

Il testo introduce i temi del progetto elaborato nel Workshop “Binario8. Una Nuova sede per la scuola di Architettura a Parma” che si inserisce nel tessuto degli ex opifici di San Leonardo, tra la Stazione e Pasubio, configurandosi come un’“architettura in forma di città”. Attraverso il riuso adattivo dei manufatti esistenti e l’inserimento di un nuovo edificio, l’intervento conserva l’impronta morfologica del luogo e attiva un rinnovato metabolismo urbano. Il progetto configura la nuova Scuola di Architettura come dispositivo urbano fondato su flessibilità, interazione e condivisione: l’intervento, articolato in due quadranti separati da un isolato residenziale, integra riconversione dell’esistente e nuova costruzione secondo un principio compositivo unitario basato su elementi primari che organizzano le sequenze spaziali. La ferrovia, elemento liminare e identitario, struttura il sistema distributivo come una spina dorsale connettiva, articolata da una rampa e da tre landmarks che collegano la quota della stazione alla città.
