Nowadays the claims related to freedom and rights in general are frequently centred on ideas and terms underlining the importance, on the one hand, to respect the individual person in many domains – especially in relation to the affective and emotional sphere; and of the (various possible) membership – related to concrete groups or symbolic affiliation – which one could declare, on the other hand. In this sense, while self-determination and autonomy are key-concepts to understand the role of individual in modern democracies and their public spheres, this semantics related to individualism – a legacy of Western tradition – seems to be challenged today by this universal claim both for “inclusion” and for protection of the individual, based not only in the intrinsic dignity of everyone but also on specific memberships. Moreover, these claims call into question the role of State and institutions in guarantee the optimal condition for inclusion, and also the need for everyone (be it an individual or a collective actor) to respect the other.

Abstract
Moreover, these claims call into question the role of State and institutions in guarantee the optimal condition for inclusion, and also the need for everyone (be it an individual or a collective actor) to respect the other.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
