In recent years, there has been a growing recognition of the need to adopt new housing models capable of fostering osmotic relationships between the “city” and the “home”, as well as of strengthening networks of proximity – both of which are essential conditions for the development of more participatory and collaborative urban communities. The rigid separation between public and private realms, inherited from the functionalist conception of the modern city, increasingly appears restrictive, giving way to a redefinition of dwelling as a complex, hybrid, and constantly evolving microcosm. Indeed, even within conventional domestic environments, individuals navigate in-between spaces of transition that, while not strictly domestic, form an integral part of everyday life. This contribution investigates the potential to introduce architectural spaces that extend beyond the boundaries of the traditional individual apartment. These spaces are envisioned as settings where small groups of residents – whether individuals or multiple family units – can come together, interact, and, above all, share environments that, while distinct from the private domain, remain intimately connected to daily life. Such spaces are herein conceptualized as “rooms”.

Abstract
Such spaces are herein conceptualized as “rooms”.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
