Zeit und Moorpoetik in Elke Loewes Familienroman Teufelsmoor

The contribution analyzes the function of moor landscapes in Elke Loewe’s work Teufelsmoor (2002) and reflects on the interaction between the stereotypes related to this geographical area, where colonists are traditionally looked at as a population at the margins of civilization, and the retrospective depiction of a hard reclamation process through the narrative framework of a family novel. It is therefore highlighted how the moor appears here as the memory device of three generations of colonists, and how it becomes the actual protagonist of the narration as well as a productive basin of stories.
