The digital transformation of the construction sector is shifting the focus from geometric modelling to the intelligent integration of information flows throughout the entire building lifecycle. In this context, the proposed research develops VALIDS (Validation of Actor-based modeL through Information Delivery Specifications), a framework to automate the verification and exchange of BIM data across project workflows, integrating actor-based systems with the Information Delivery Specification (IDS) standard introduced by buildingSMART to formalize information requirements. IDS standards guide the automated verification process, specifying what information must be delivered, when, and in which format, ensuring interoperability across software platforms and project disciplines. In VALIDS, building elements are represented as independent actors, each managing its own state and interactions, which enables fine-grained control and parallel updates across the model. Through the adoption of the actor model, the system can manage multiple information flows, dynamically adapting to contextual changes and to the information requirements defined in IDS templates. The main objective of VALIDS is to create a framework capable of automating BIM information validation processes, reducing human errors and verification time, while enhancing interoperability among software platforms and disciplines. The proposed model will be tested through a case study to demonstrate its potential in supporting the digital transition of the construction industry. Ensuring consistent information delivery across a large network of actors, while dynamically satisfying IDS requirements, may require careful design and optimization of communication and validation mechanisms. Positioned at the intersection of OpenBIM technologies, standardized information delivery, and automated verification workflows, VALIDS advances methods for reliable, standards-compliant, and interoperable BIM data management.
