The essays collected in this book explore the role of physical geography in the literary imagination and cultural environments of the German-speaking world, examining specific areas (from the mines of East Germany to the lands of Bukovina-Galicia, to the tributaries of the Danube), in dialogue with the theoretical findings of spatial, ecological and environmental studies. By analysing how the areas in question have shaped literature and been shaped by it, the book suggests a reorganisation of literary historiography and recounts how geographical space is the changing result of the interaction between nature, society and imagination.

Abstract
The essays collected in this book explore the role of physical geography in the literary imagination and cultural environments of the German-speaking world, examining specific areas (from the mines of East Germany to the lands of Bukovina-Galicia, to the tributaries of the Danube), in dialogue with the theoretical findings of spatial, ecological and environmental studies. By analysing how the areas in question have shaped literature and been shaped by it, the book suggests a reorganisation of literary historiography and recounts how geographical space is the changing result of the interaction between nature, society and imagination.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
