The contribution focuses on the role of Nature in the Lai de Narcisse. Compared to Ovid’s Metamorphoses where the two protagonists, Narcissus and Echo, belong to Nature and nature is an integral part of the characters’ becoming until the final transformation, in the French poem Nature is the architect and creator of the protagonist’s extraordinary beauty and at the same time is configured as the space inhabited by Narcissus in contrast to the city where Danae lives.
