This work was born as part of a doctorate in Energy and Environment and in collaboration with the Lazio Region in Italy, in the field of energy transition, with the aim of evaluating the effectiveness of public policies relating to Renewable Energy Communities (REC) and Hydrogen Valleys. The aim of the work is to evaluate the results achievable from these regional public policies, comparing them with other regions and measuring their contribution to the achievement of local and national objectives. In the last part of the work, ideas for improvement of the policies are also identified. In the work, for the RECs, the possible sources of funding for the policies were assessed, the data relating to the applications received in response to the regional calls and the related feasibility studies were processed, assuming that each of them corresponds to a REC that has entered into service. For the Hydrogen Valleys, the results obtainable in Lazio and in the other regions were evaluated, in terms of production volumes, costs, demand satisfaction and achievement of objectives. The data were provided and processed with the support of the Lazio Region and the "La Sapienza" University. In conclusion, it was found that while both policies do indeed contribute to the energy transition at local level, they still have ample room for improvement.
