The essay analyzes the origins and adaptations of postcolonial discourse in the Italian museum scene, considering the influence of international events (such as the 1989 Magiciens de la Terre exhibition, which was hel in Paris) and political and cultural processes (the Second Vatican Council) that contributed to the maturation of awareness on the part of critics and art historians. Alongside ethnographic collections and partial revisions of some art museums, collections of missionary origin play a central role, which, especially in recent years, have become the focus of highly interesting initiatives involving rearrangement and resemantization.
Il saggio analizza le origini e adattamenti del discorso postcoloniale nel panorama museale italiano, considerando l'influenza di eventi internazionali (come la mostra Magiciens de la Terre del 1989) e di processi politici e culturali (il Concilio Vatiano II) che contribuirono alla maturazione di consapevolezza da parte degli ambienti della critica e della storia dell'arte. Accanto alle raccolte etnografiche e alle parziali revisioni di alcuni musei d’arte, un ruolo centrale assumono le collezioni di origine missionaria, che soprattutto negli ultimi anni sono divenute protagoniste di iniziative di riallestimento e di risemantizzazione di grande interesse.
