The paper deals with the conservation of explosives factories. The first part argues the interpretative problems of these specific industrial architectures and then focuses on the comparison of the rare examples of enhancement in the European context. By highlighting the relationship between the place, the inhabitants and the factories, the paper treats the reasons that substantiate the protection of this heritage and architectural aspects that reveal its intrinsic values.
