our current mobility systems consume far too much energy and space, in addition to reinforcing and creating new social inequalities. The impact of mobility systems on landscape development and landscape quality is still to some extent underestimated in landscape architecture. In this session, we want to explore possible transition pathways towards sustainable mobility, building on the possible interactions between sustainable mobility infrastructure, public spaces and green-blue infrastructure. There is indeed a long design tradition of integration of mobility infrastructure into the landscape that needs to be overhauled and rethought in a system oriented perspective. In addition, we will discuss how landscape architecture study programmes can better embrace this complex topic. This includes the question of the role of landscape architecture in interdisciplinary processes in this field.

Abstract

our current mobility systems consume far too much energy and space, in addition to reinforcing and creating new social inequalities.
