After a brief presentation of the literary heritage of Timothy Aelurus, the paper discusses the contribution offered by Ethiopic, Syriac, and Armenian translations of his works. In particular, some philological questions are discussed: the preservation and the form of Timothy’s letters to the Alexandrians and to the Constantinopolitans, and the witness of the famous manuscript BL add 12156 concerning the dogmatic and historiographical activity of the bishop. In this manuscript it is possible to read some florilegia against Chalcedonian Christology and some works by Timothy, but deeply reworked and edited: someone has dismantled and reassembled an entire work, has selected pieces of this work and of the bishop’s letters, and has left traces of his activity through short titles and declarations, which deserve a careful analysis.
