At the 1976 Theatre Biennale, Peter Brook provided one of the best demonstrations of the breakup of the traditional role of the actor. In three different events, Brook played with genres and replaces the player by the performer, a real mediator. Brook’s presence at the Biennale heralded in an embryonic way some of the fundamental aspects which would shape a new scenic art: the performance.
