An orange house for work

In Naples, in an area on the border between the INA-Casa developments and the twentieth-cen- tury expansion of the city, I was faced with the issue of having to convert an old dairy into the representative headquarters of a company that deals with automation systems for production chains. The building – which stands in front of the post-rationalist technical institute by Cesare Ulisse – consists of two superimposed load-bear- ing masonry blocks and three open facades: one with a few openings, overlooking a cultivated land; another completely blind, but punctuated by three round arches; and a very articulated fa- cade on the internal courtyard, in which there is, among other things, a projection that protrudes three meters from the vertical wall. In the design and construction process I followed the school of thought that wants sign stratifica- tion as an indispensable eurhythmic mantra.
