In this paper I touch briefly upon three distinct points, providing concise updates on each of them. (1) The first one is the meaning of the Ethiopic version of the History of the Episcopate of Alexandria within the framework of the whole Aksumite Collection where it is transmitted, and its specific contribution to the topics of Ethiopian bishops and bishoprics. (2) The second point concerns the most ancient Ethiopic canonical texts mentioning the ‘bishop’, the ‘metropolitan’, and the ‘patriarch’. (3) The third point concerns the state of the art on the textual tradition of the Ethiopic version of the forty-second of the eighty-four pseudo-Nicaean canons, or second series of the canons of the council of Nicaea, transmitted within the Sinodos: the text was published by Mauro da Leonessa in 1942 on the basis of four manuscripts, but it has not been analysed again since. I will present evidence that illustrates better its reception in the manuscript tradition.
