Abstract The text outlines the reason behind the structure of the volume, which presents the outcome of continuous dialogue through a presentation organized into three logical parts. The first part outlines a multidisciplinary framework that helps to understand the complexity of the transhumance practice. The second part focuses on the reconstruction of the legal framework and the monitoring of plans and projects aimed at enhancing the territorial structures associated with transhumance. These two parts together provide a suitable scientific framework preparatory to the third and final part, which in turn focuses on monitoring the current protection measures in place for transhumance locations. The entirety of the content serves as a foundational premise for formulating innovative hypotheses of usage and protection regulations for transhumance territories in subsequent research projects.
