Materia oscura. O della pervasività del linguaggio

The text intends to delve deeper into the relationship between the architect and his privileged tools with a particular focus on the use of the written word. In fact, the latter today is fundamental for communicating with the generative artificial intelligence models that are revolutionizing numerous professional fields. The word therefore acquires an unprecedented centrality in this context and presents itself as a substitute tool for other more traditional, but also technological and sophisticated ones. On this basis, the architect can think of re-establishing his role through a method that sees narrative and communicative ability as the protagonist. Furthermore, the renewed relationship between architecture and narration opens up unexplored scenarios not only with regards to the project and the design process, but also with regards to narration. Artificial intelligence, in fact, can give a face to concepts and narratives that until now have not been represented visually and allows the reinterpretation of texts, already equipped with a graphic apparatus, offering a new vision. In this sense, we propose the rereading through AI of the book The Good Life by Iñaki Ábalos and in particular the reinterpretation of the imagery of the archetypal houses to which the author refers and of the subjects who inhabit them.

Il testo intende approfondire il rapporto che intercorre tra l'architetto e i suoi strumenti privilegiati con un focus particolare sull'uso della parola scritta. Quest'ultima infatti oggi è fondamentale per comunicare con i modelli di Intelligenza artificiale generativa che stanno rivoluzionando numerosi ambiti professionali. La parola acquista perciò in questo quadro un'inedita centralità e si pone come strumento sostitutivo di altri più tradizionali, ma anche tecnologici e sofisticati. Su questa base l'architetto può pensare di rifondare il suo ruolo attraverso un metodo che vede protagonista la capacità narrativa e comunicativa. Inoltre il rinnovato rapporto tra architettura e narrazione apre scenari inesplorati non solo per quanto riguarda il progetto e il processo progettuale, ma anche per quanto riguarda la narrazione. L’intelligenza artificiale, infatti, può dare un volto a concetti e narrazioni che fino ad ora non sono stati rappresentati visivamente e consente di reinterpretare testi, già forniti di un apparato grafico, offrendone una visione inedita. In questo senso, si propone la rilettura attraverso l'IA del saggio Il buon abitare di Iñaki Ábalos e in particolare la reinterpretazione dell'immaginario delle case archetipiche a cui l'autore fa riferimento in relazione ai soggetti che le abitano.
