Il saggio ripercorre le principali teorie sul sacrificio elaborate tra Otto e Novecento, mettendo in luce i presupposti metodologici e le implicazioni storiografiche della categoria. Attraverso un'analisi critica, si problematizza l’uso del termine "sacrificio" come costrutto teorico, evidenziandone le conseguenze nell’interpretazione delle pratiche rituali e nella costruzione dell’alterità.
