La Saracena, designed by Luigi Moretti between 1955 and 1957 in Santa Marinella, represents one of the most complex and poetic syntheses of architecture, nature, and the historical memory of the Mediterranean landscape. Set within a coastal context, the villa takes shape as an aristocratic “refuge-house,” closed off from the city and open to the sea, evoking models of the Roman domus and Eastern influences. The building, articulated along a longitudinal axis, unfolds through a dynamic sequence of domestic and perceptual spaces that gradually lead toward the marine horizon. Conceived as a plastic, fluid, and tactile organism, the house merges matter and form in a continuous dialogue between spontaneity and design control, between memory and innovation. Through the use of textured surfaces and almost sculptural architectural gestures, Moretti defines a work rich in symbolism, where architecture becomes a sensitive experience — a place of narration and intimacy.

Abstract
Through the use of textured surfaces and almost sculptural architectural gestures, Moretti defines a work rich in symbolism, where architecture becomes a sensitive experience — a place of narration and intimacy.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
