This article consists of two sections: – in the first section I try to draw synthetically some of the salient characteristics of the Latin scholastic theology of the 12th century as they emerged in the research of the last 100 years (early scholasticism; 'Sprachlogik'; aetas Boethiana); – in the second section I focus on a single work, the treatise Invisi- bilia Dei: dated between approximately 1150 and 1180, it sums up significant traits of the scholastic theology of this period.
