Mecanismos de ênfase e figuras de estilo em dois textos jornalísticos da Gazeta de Notícias do Rio de Janeiro

The present work aims to analyze two articles that were published in the Gazeta de Notícias of Rio de Janeiro, in 1888 and 1892, respectively. The articles, whose titles are A Europa (1888) and A Europa em Resumo (1892) were written by José Maria Eça de Queirós (1845-1900) and offer the Brazilian public an open window on Europe and its political and social situation. Through the analysis of the mechanisms of emphasis and the figures of style, which are the linguistic features that eminently characterize these texts, the stylistic profile of Eça journalist will be highlighted, in comparison with other press writings of the same author in different times.
