La poesia come espressione letteraria lulliana

This article is an overview of Llull’s versified works within the context of the 13th century literary output. Llull tried to surpass the troubadours’ lyrics, showing the falseness of their actions and exploiting their success to bring the Art of trobar back to its real intention: praying to God (part 1). His own output can be divided into two main groups: his works in noves rimades (part 2.1) are mainly connected with his epistemological project (Llull’s Art) or have a liturgical use, while his poems in other meters (part 2.2) show Llull’s ability to recycle his contemporary production (lyric, epic and dramatic) to convert poetry into a tool of self-analysis.
