The role of pig farming is perhaps one of the most obvious aspects of the complex economy of Bronze Age village communities. Pigs provide meat and fat and are therefore defined as single-purpose animals. Their undeniable role as meat suppliers is not to be questioned, but with this contribution, in order to rethink the information on the morphology of pigs in a limited area of the Po Valley territory, we have tried to carry out an exploratory analysis, taking into account the dimensions of the animals, the composition of the groups and the possible relationships between wild and domestic populations. We will try to shed light on possible pig farming techniques in a sample area that has already been much studied from an archaeozoological point of view, that of eastern Emilia and Romagna, where recent studies and new unpublished data have allowed a significant expansion of the statistical sample available to us. In a vast territory rich in diverse resources.
