The paper explores the benefits and challenges of Outdoor Education (OE) in fostering social-emotional learning (SEL) within educational systems. The article argues that OE provides a holistic learning approach that integrates cognitive, emotional, and social development through experiential learning in natural environments. Rooted in Northern European traditions, OE enhances emotional regulation, empathy, so cial relationships, and stress management, thereby contributing to wellbeing and deeper learning. The challenges include resource constraints, teacher training, and adverse weather conditions, which can limit its full implementation in schools.
