La frontière des oubliés: microcosmi e macrocosmi di confine nei racconti di ʿᾹliye ʿAṭāyi

Published in Iran in 2021 by Našr-e Češme in the category “Persian non-fiction”, and translated into French in 2023 by Sabrina Nouri under the title La frontière des oubliés, Kursorxi: revāyathā-yi az jān o jang (Blind to Red: Tales of Body and War) by the Irano-Afghan novelist ʿᾹliye ʿAṭāyi is a collection consisting of nine short stories that are the literary transposition of episodes experienced by the writer herself or witnessed by her during her lifetime, whose common thread is the life on the Iran-Afghanistan border. This paper aims at conducting an historicization of this border, by way of analysing the role that the denaturalized border crossers – who are the characters of the nine episodes – play in denaturalizing, in turn, and politicizing the border itself. Finally, the entanglements between the microcosm of the writer and the other characters, and the macrocosm of that “border” will be traced and explored.
